Our Philosophy

Naturally better, tastes better.

Grass Fed Beef Production

Cattle are ruminants. They have evolved and are biologically equipped to eat and digest grasses.

Large areas of Australia are semi-arid and do not have the ability to support and finish cattle. As such livestock from these areas move into a feedlot environment and are fed a high input formulated ration high in grains to allow for quick weight gains and fast turnoff timeframes.

King Island offers a unique environment where rainfall and grass production allow animals to graze continuously and naturally in the paddocks throughout their whole production life. Whilst weight gains can still be comparable to that of a high grain intensive feeding environment, we know that cattle raised naturally and that are free to roam the fields and graze at their own will not only live a more natural life but that they produce a more nutritious product that is healthier and tastier. Animals raised within their natural environment must surely also be kinder to the environment and be more sustainable.

It’s the type of beef you and your family should be eating.

Everything we do on our family farm is designed to create the best possible environment for our animals to ensure they produce the highest quality, best tasting meat.

Certified Organic

It’s more than just meeting a strict series of guidelines, to us being Certified Organic is a way of ensuring we leave our farmland and environment in a heathier condition for our family’s future generations and that our livestock can graze a diverse array of pasture species to allow for the most content and healthy lives.

Of course, we don’t use chemical herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilisers. We know the environment is much better for it, our footprint is much more sustainable, and our soils, animals and pastures are healthier.

Unnatural fertilisers and chemical usage tend to promote the growth of high production plant species at the expense of plant diversity. Our cattle dine on a veritable smorgasbord of plant species and clovers. This diversity provides a broad range of nutrients for the animal and creates a better balanced, more sustainable pasture.

Carbon Neutral

The health of our herd and health of our farm are incredibly important to us.

We have experienced the extremes of climate change when farming in south-eastern Queensland. An unpredictable cycle of droughts, floods and bushfires is far from the ideal environment to farm, let alone grow and raise premium quality produce.

Whilst we continue to work through Carbon Projects and haven’t yet the scientific data to prove it, carbon neutrality will be another big step for us to continue to protect our most valuable assets – our soils, our animals, our farm, and our planet.

Respect for the Whole Animal

As a sustainable business with animal welfare at its core, we try to use as much of the animal as possible once slaughtered, and we encourage our customers to do the same.

Rather than just delighting in the taste of well-known cuts like eye fillet, sirloin, and T-bone, we aim to provide recipes and cooking tips to enable our customers to make the most of some equally wonderful cuts like brisket, round, and flank.

Not only will it provide you and your family with a whole new variety of tasty, nutritious meals, it pays due respect to the animal that provided them.
